A lot of people dont realize, but that lope is actually the car running like crap because the cam isnt designed for low rpm. The valve overlap is to much for how slow the motor is turning.
you wouldn't happen to have a sound clip of his car do you. i'm currently running a cc305 through true duals to flowmaster 4 series mufflers....it sounds mean as is with a smaller cam (220/230) 114. i was anxiouse to hear the cc306 through true duals. i'll be putting that particual cam in my motor in the next two weeks.

No, unfortunatley i dont have any sound clips of his car.

Do you have any pics of your setup?

i don't have any pics of the exuast...but the guy that did it did a great job...fabricated from the headers back. he made the x-pipe by seting it up as a straight pipe car, then bent the 2 pipe, cut both of them and welded it together....it looks very good under the car and tucks up close all the way around....i'll see if i can't get some pictures in the next week or so.

Something like a LE1 might do that for you.

Almost all of the cams I've done for Lloyd do that for ya, they all drive well and lope like SOB's!

Re: Muscle Car Lope

How does the overlap differ from that of LT1 style cams or is there no difference? Could you use examples please.

Its not like I am wanting a cam for sound, just wondering how it gets the way it is. I just got my job I've been waiting on, so Lloyd and Bret can stop hearing me talk about getting a H/C Package and I'll just order one.

Re: Muscle Car Lope

Ok lets say a flat tappet solid out of a '69 Z28

That cam was a

Advertised 346/346
.050" 254/254
114 LSA

A CC306

Advertised 290/307
.050" 230/244
112LSA

The old Z28 cam has almost 40% more overlap area because the lobes are so lazy. Now add in the solid lifer sound and it's pretty bad *** sounding.

FWIW a LE3 cam has a litte more overlap AREA than the old Z28 cam so that's why it chops like a ****.

Re: Muscle Car Lope

i have a question about the solid roller motors. i understand the difference between solid and hydraulic rollers, but i was curious as to why they sound so much different other then the significantly larger cams that can be run???

I'm going to have to learn more about camshafts before I totally understand this, but how will the LE2 series cam sound? I've heard in through a Hooker Catback and is seemed tamer, but through my wide open GMMG setup I think its going to be pretty beasty.

Also what does overlap get you or take away? Is there a reason LT1's dont have as much? I dont think its economical to go solid lifters in a stock block LT1 right?

355 with a cam motion solid roller. This is a 110 LS with hooker LTs with bullets hung off the collector.
