Muscle Car Lope

I just got done watching Duke of Hazzard again and I decided to post what I have wondered for quite some time.

What makes all these muscle cars sound like muscle cars? What LSA's/specs are the cams, stock and not cut on? 108 LSA, 110?

I only wonder cause I wouldnt mind having my LT1 sound even more like beasty American Muscle. So if possible have it cut with those sound inducing properties. Perhaps most aftermarket cams already sound like that, I'm just wondering.

I think that the ammount of valve overlap and LSA are what contrubute to the lope of a cam.

Re: Muscle Car Lope

if itll idle!! lol sound mean as ****. people be thinking its a pro street car with the right set up. thats pretty low. a 110 is pretty freakin lopey. anyone with a 112 lobe sep will tell you its got a nice lope to it. also depends on amount of lift.

Re: Muscle Car Lope

I've found that most really lopey cams tend to favor a high rpm range(ie: shifting at 6500+), I wonder if it's possible to get a nice lope at idle, and a good low to midrange boost in power? Basically to make it a fun to drive street/show car.

To hear a cam on a 109lsa, check out the vid in my sig. I will be uploading some idle vids soon, but you can hear the car atleast. 383 spinning 7000rpm.

Re: Muscle Car Lope

a lot of the old car sound comes from the true duals also.

My cam is on a 110 lsa and i think it sounds pretty tame. its nothing like my buddies cc306 with true duals with a 112lsa.

A lot of people dont realize, but that lope is actually the car running like crap because the cam isnt designed for low rpm. The valve overlap is to much for how slow the motor is turning.
