Referencing Injuner's description and Shoebox's picture, the MSD instructions tell you to pull the hose off that goes to the EGR control valve and insert the T between the fitting on the manifold and the elbow. No cutting of the exisitng vacuum line necessary.

In the 95-97 cars, the vacuum for the PCV valve is run from a small port on the front of the manifold, under the throttle body. That frees up the lower/rear port on the side of the manifold for the Opti vent vacuum line. The port under the throttle body is there on the 94's as well, but it has a pipe plug in it. (Don't know if they had it on the 93's).

Well I went through 5 GM opti's in 5 years on my car and have been running the MSD with no problems yet. I couldn't get my car tuned right away and the option it has to add or take away timing on it is bad ***.

We've been selling the Dynaspark version for a while and no complaints. It is a quality piece:

i just bought a complete MSD ignition system from summit. the sad thing about it was after i ordered it i was taking things off to get to the opti and right down by the opti in the vaccum line there was a hole burnt in the line....causing my opti problem. now that just sucks

Will this part be avaialble for the 93-94 LT1? The description doesn't list it. Also, it is $90 more than the MSD which does support the 93-04 and adds the venting option. Not complaining, just noting the differences for anyone comparing.

I'm pretty sure that Dynaspark makes an Opti for the 93-94's. For six hundred bucks it should come with dancing girls.

The Dynaspark would appear to be a much more sturdy unit, billet case, upgraded bearing, etc. The MSD is closer to the stocker. I don't think I've ever seen anyone have a problem with the Dynaspark, but we've already had posts here about problems with the MSD.

Agreed. We have never had any of our customers complain about the dynasparks. They have been around for quite a while too

I've been looking around for a new 94 opti as well, and here's what I've found: ac delco is $400-450, msd is about $500 or a little more, dynaspark is $600, also have heard good and bad about delco and msd but have not heard hardly any bad things about the dynaspark. For me, it makes sense to spend another 100 bucks to not have to replace it again in the near future.

Doesn't the MSD have a billet case and upgraded bearing? If they're comparable pieces, the MSD can be had for quite a bit less than the Dynaspark.

There is a thread called Opti #5 with reported dynaspark failures.

The MSD has a billet case but I am not sure about the bearing. I pulled my motor last week for a complete rebuild and I will be opening up my MSD (it has about 11,000 miles on it) to see how it is holding up. I will post what I find for anyone who is interested.
