msd opti and fuel
in case op is still reading...
these guys are life-savers when it comes to advice on cars
... but some things you still have to figure out the hard way.
the reason the MSD opti is bashed is because it costs so much, for something you have to basically rebuild before installing. i know this because i have one. the loc-tite is a recommendation to keep the rotor from coming off while the car is running and destroying your $500 investment, similar to how mine almost did. there is little if anything to gain by an aftermarket opti and had i listened to the recommendations/known a little more at the time, i'd have a stock piece under the hood and $500 to invest somewhere else.
best of luck you finding someone to tell you what you want to hear!

Now you tell us that the shop that did your Opti install "sucks" and you won't go back there. But they are the ones who might have failed to loc-tite the screws, failed to somehow set the adjustable tmiing correctly, and may have mis-indexed the splined drive shaft - ALL OF WHICH CAN CAUSE THE PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING. And the fact that they "suck" simply confirms that their incompetence may have been reflected in the way they installed the MSD Opti.
Well.... I can see this thread is going nowhere. I guess his philosophy is "shoot the messenger".
Good luck on "another forum".
