MSD Digital 6 Wiring question HELP!!

Basically, I need a good write-up on how to install. I just got a used one that came from a 92 vette, and is going on my 93 T/A. I can't make heads or tails of it though, since there's no instructions, and the stuff on the MSD website is kinda vague. Help is appreciated!!!!

I'm pretty sure you can just buy a plug that plugs into your stock coil. So there is no cutting or splicing. I would check out thunder racing or something similar to that to find the plug.

I would recommend getting the msd dual plug harness for 93-95. I believe the pt # is 8876. It makes installation a snap, trust me, it is a real pain in the *** to wire without it.

NO doubt about it, get the MSD wiring harness and you save beaucoup time and effort. My MSD Digital 6+ has been trouble free for about 5 years. I can't say that it made a great improvement, but it at least looks great under the hood.

I'd recommend that you contact MSD and buy a set of instructions. There are many features and settings that you will want to know about to get the most from this feature rich product (i.e. if you select position 8 or 9 on the cylinder selection dial, then the ignition is disabled which functions as a great theft deterent)

Did you check here?

http://www.msdignition.com/downld1.htm

first d/loadable file is listed for digital 6+ instructions.

I have it in my granada as my ignition setup.......trust me, you'll like it once it's installed. Mine works amazing!!!!

Oh yeah, for a F-body application do get the harness adapter mentioned. makes it simple to hook up once you figure out where to mount the unit in the engine comp.

Good luck.

Ok, I guess I should have been more clear. The MSD already has the wiring harness. the only thing getting me is that the harness has a dual plug input, but a single plug to put into the coil. do I only take the one plug out of the coil and replace it with the msd harness, or do I plug both coil plugs into the harness and just the one harness end back into the coil??

also, where did you guys connect the power source? It needs to be a switched source right?

You most likely have the 96 and up single plug harness pt# 8877. Your car needs the 95 and older dual plug harness pt # 8876. This harness is made to fit in between the factory and coil. The msd then wires into the t's that run off the harness. If the one you have doesn't fit either way, then you have the wrong harness. I ran a 10 gauge copper wire extension off from the pink positive box near the battery, then connected msd main power wire to that extension. Hope this helps.

Hey... I know I should forget about horsepower with the MSD 6x but.. did anyone of you experienced an increased fuel mileage from this mod??

I figured .... if I drive 10kmiles in one year... and I am now doing 12mpg.... city only driving... if I can increase the mileage to 16mpg... I will have saved enough to almost pay for two MSD6A's in just one year...

My gas price is $2.00 per gal.

so who got better mileage after the switchover??

Thanks guys, I ended up getting it worked out this morning. It had the right harness, I was just unsure of whether or not both coil plugs went into the harness, leaving just the harness plugged into the coil.

She runs great with it, and the reason I got the Dig 6 is that the tach wasn't getting a good signal. Problem solved.
