I didn't go by any dyno run. I took the GM rating of 275 and subtracted 18% for A4 drivetrain loss.

I guess my post kind of threw the original off, but i would just be dissapointed in buying a blower, installing, and manual or auto, only putting down 300 hp. Now that he has some good numbers, who cares.

so figure in a 15rwhp difference. you can lock the converter. it aint like the 8" JW converter i had bolted to the C4 in my mustang. my hardtop ran 80mph in the 1/8 when it was bone stock. so i dont think it was only making 230ish rwhp, but i could be wrong.

BUT I highlighted some issues I have with your statements . What did you have before the longtubes??? If the answer is manifolds right there is a big chunk of power you picked up, to come here saying you got all the power from just the heads and cam is flat out wrong.
The LE2 cam is a hugh improvement over the stock cam (and ya this is coming from someone w/ a Joe O cam), especially with the heads. The other thing that this thread doesn't show is great driveablility gas mileage and good flat torque band. A sc engine benifits from a wider lca than a na cam, b/c w/ too much overlap you'll lose boast. It's all a juggling act but the benifits from a cam specific application can be great, na, nitrous, sc or in turbocharged engines.

Was the low original rwhp number low because of the wrong plugs? Did you not fix this until you did the h/c? Awesome numbers though.

Re: More good Lloyd Elliott results

Its funny how when someone installs their AFR and a cam on their LS1 and post up dyno numbers you do not see the same bs that you see when people post up hp#'s with Lloyds stuff. I dont get it.

I started my LE2 setup on Friday for the first time. I had the biggest smile on my face. I only ran the car for 10 minutes, then put it on the trailer to get it home from a friends house since it was untuned. Getting it tuned tomorrow (Tuesday) and will post my results then, along with a video clip of the GMMG with the LE2 cam. The car sounds insane.

Re: More good Lloyd Elliott results

The 308 RWHP original number was on the stock plugs, which should have been replaced with cooler burning plugs, and were soon afterwards. I didnt think that original # was ridiculously low though, considering I have seen MANY stock A4 LT1s dyno near 230 or so RWHP. I have heard from many people that stock LT1s with stock exhuast manifolds will make around 12-13 RWHP per pound of boost, so that # seems about right on for what my set-up was.
As far as my upgrades over the winter. I certainly did not say that the whole 138 RWHP gain was due to the heads and cam. I realize that the headers, roller rockers, etc. also contributed. But the heads and cam certainly gained the vast majority of it. It is clearly stated on Lloyds website what other bolt ons are needed to make his packages work the best, and that is exactly what I did. Yes, that torque number is a peak number, but you would be surprised how flat the graph is and that the peak spot is not that much higher than the rest of the graph. I will try to post these graphs. I should be going to the track soon also, after I get better tires.
The main thing I like so much is the drivability of the car is awesome! It has a nice cam sounding idle, but never even thinks about stalling or anything like that coming into gear or any other time. It is not very choppy at all even at low rpms it runs great, but at 4K plus, watch out! The 3,000 stall torque convertor really helped out I'm sure. I was also impressed that it made its peak power at 5,900 RPMs, and held fairly steady until around 6,500 RPMs, so I dont have to spin the motor super high to see peak power.
I plan on keeping the set-up like this and enjoying it for a while. I realize that I will be able to add more boost in the future. This is becuase the engine was pulled and forged pistons, rods, racing bearings, etc. were added. The compression was lowered to around 9.3:1. But for now I will enjoy the awesome power it has now. Thanks again to Lloyd and Bret, they guided me the whole way through, from stupid installation problems to makinf suggestions on how to build the bottom end, compression, etc. Great guys to work with!

Really nice numbers. That engine has potential for 550-650rwhp with about 10psi and a little shot. I wish I had the cash to throw a set of dish pistons and a S or T-trim on my 355" LT1 with the LE Trickflows it would make a ton of power. I can't complain with it making 510rwhp (175NX) kit through a loose converter and still running 9.80's@136mph and it's very durable. Later Clint

Good results man. To the critics that are trying to take credit from where its due, he clearly says he utilized the other bolt ons to complete the package. Also he dropped the compression, and boost remained the same so the results are very impressive. Its always good to see happy customers no matter who the vendor is.

I'm not familar with how much boost is the limit before you start getting backpressure due to the heads not flowing enough on these cars, but the boost staying the same with the smaller pulley is due to the fact he has awesome flow now thru the head runners. I bet if he put the old pulley back on he would have alot lower than 6 psi now.
The boost pressure is being measured in the plenum, if the previous heads couldn't flow enough at the boost he was running, then there was alot of backpressure in the plenum and that boost wasn't all making it to the cylinders.
Now with the LE heads, all the boost is making it to the cylinders and releiving the back pressure that was in the plenum, so the smaller pulley is making a difference..the only way to tell how much is put the old pulley back on and dyno it again.
Kinda like crimping a water hose will cause pressure to rise before the crimp..in this case it was the old heads.

This maybe true, and its true that even with the stock pulley he would show less boost but make more power. However the pulley comparison wouldnt be a good base against previous numbers since he dropped the compression as well, which even with 6 PSI would make less power then previously(with stock heads) because the lower compression would only be good if turning boost up, or with detonation/knock issues. Even though my experience is limited in this department, i would say that the dropped compression/pulley swap would cancel any power improvement or decrease from either modification. With that said, that is why i consider the results to be quite impressive especially through an unlocked auto nonetheless.
