Re: modification help

Pull the valve covers off and see if you've got aftermarket rockers. Or take it to the track.

Re: modification help

when i was driving the car i noticed the oil pressure is different from my other camaro
this one after it warms up it idles 1k rpm and the oil pressure is about 50psi my other camaro was 20 psi same idle
my new z28 is 95 the other one is 94
i use mobile 1 synthatic 10w30
if i have a cam does that also raise the oil pressure
if have cams (not sure yet) it should be comp305 cuz the engine is not that aggressive but more faster than my 94 z28

Re: modification help

A (correctly done) cam install won't have an effect on your oil pressure.

Re: modification help

I added a can of Restore and my oil pressure was very high for a few weeks. Maybe the seller did this to sell the car.

Re: modification help

A cam could caused raised oil pressure only through an accompanying higher idle tune.

Re: modification help

Hmm, a car with a cage but might or might not have a cam? Curious...

If they had he engine apart perhaps they added a different bypass spring to the oil pump. I have the 'white' spring in mine and have 25 psi at a hot idle.

The sending unit could also be wrong. The one in my Silverado read 80psi at idle...until I replaced it lol

Re: modification help

spring should not affect idle pressure.

Absolutely true....but, somehow, my oil pressure is higher at all speeds, not just at peak.

Re: modification help

Could try to put a degree wheel on the crank...but that would require removing alot of stuff just to check the cam.
Could measure the lift tho without much effort and see if its much different than stock. Inspect valve spring size too to see if those changed... a cam swap would most definately warrant a change of valvesprings.. Although they may be stock type diameter, it be easy to tell if coils are the same thickness or double spring/beehive vs stock style.
