min clearance between oil an and steering rack?

So.......is there a minimum clearance between the oil pan and the steering rack?
I have a Canton oil pan installed, and it was hitting my steering rack.
I bought 6 thick washers and put them underneath the motor mounts, and now it fits.......but how much room is needed for the engine to move around during driving? I dont want to wear a hole through the pan accidently........

Also, is it bad to hammer on the oil pan alittle? "massage" it so to speak?

gah......I already added oil and had the engine bolted down......andits gonna be a pain now to hit it.

Was adding the washers bad? They are inbetween the K-member on the motor mount things.

I did mine with oil in it and everything too......

I took a 2x4 and put it where the rack goes(took the rack off) and hit it across....I had a rag on the 2x4 and you can't even tell. Just do a little at a time.

You should be fine with the washers....it changed the drive angle a very little but with regular motor mounts It won't be any problem.
