Is it oil or possibly trans fluid from a cracked trans fluid cooler in the radiator?

This would make more sense then a blown head gasket letting oil into the coolant. I have never heard of oil getting into coolant by a crack. Coolant getting in the oil is the common. I have had a car that the trans cooler did take a dump and let trans fluid into the coolant. Made a nice foamy brown mess and by the time I found out, The trans was junk.

You might try pressurizing the coolant system to see if it will hold pressure.

thanks for all the replys im still stumped on why the overflow tank keeps overflowing when the car is at like 200 lol .....and i dont have a radator pressure tester in my town,, to rent.. so i will update u guys when i pull the heads..and see whats going on.. some day soon i hope

but when it stops raining im gonna pull the plugs and look if any are cleaner..

but yeah i agree with someone maybe it isnst oil in my radaitor... maybe its just a hell of a lot of block seal and rust.. snice the car sat for 5 months with a half tank of water in the radator.. before i got it..
but man it looks like i got used gear oil on my radator cap when i open it

talk about stock! haven't seen a stocker in a long time.

Take this bad situation as a sign from the LT1 gods to start moding your car.

BTW you don't have a tranny cooler if you have a 6 speed LT1.

What type of antifreeze do you have? The orange dexcool or the green stuff. I've seen the dexcool kinda funk up on on the radiator cap before (dark orange/brown color) . My wife's car here recently.

You beat me to it, my 02 Impala has dex and the over flow tank and sometimes the radiator cap gets brown funkadiliac!

Did you mix regular green coolant with dex?
