Cool Might As Well Ask The Experts...

Greetings, all, some of ya may know me from www.thirdgen.org/, most of ya probably not...but anyways, up to this point I've owned a 1987 Pontiac T/A, and been very happy with it, but now have recently come into a fair sum of money...so I thought I'd ask you guys what you think would be my best bet on what to buy with it, what year, milage, etc. At around 10-12 tousand (Canadian) dollars, what would be a decent deal...? I was thinking a '93-'95 with decent milage...? What things should I look for or be aware of before I start shopping? I'm farmiliar with the optispark thing, but what other issues should I know about..? Any and all help would be greatly apprecfiated...I'm sure this'll end up being another one of my online homes.

Jer

I'll go with the easy one and say intake manifold leak, located at the rear of the manifold on the passenger side. Someone on this board has a good list on what to look for--you may want to try a search or maybe you'll get lucky and he'll post it for you.

Hey, thanks...! Yeah, I know, try the whole 'search' thing...I tried, but wasn't really sure of what criteria to use... Anyone have stories about when they first picked their car up?? How much they've enjoyed it so far, etc..? I'm really looking into a 6-spd with T-tops, unless they're as notoriously leaky as the Third-Gens are..???

Man if you have the money get an Ls1, i know i will get flammed here but most of the loyal LT1 fans will admit deep down that they rather have the ls1 than the lt1. Quite simply, it is a better design in many areas, mainly the heads, ignition system, and lighter weight.

Anyways, search critera might be buying used lt1 or something to that effect. I have seen tons of great post about buying used lts with lots of info on them.

Also, many will not agree with me, but i would buy a 95 if at all possible, then in order, 94,97,96,93. If you want to know why i can tell you, but dont feel like typing it all out if not needed.

Oh ya, T-tops rule. Mine have never leaked, but i know some peoples have. My friends 92 RS is like being in a swimming pool when it rains so i feel the 3rd gen pain there

Most people would recommend the 95 LT1 for many reasons such as having OBDI, newer opti, hardened pushrods, single cat. Here is a guide on things too look for when buying a used LT1 fbody, it's got lots of good info.

seeing how you lave like $8.57 USD () I suggest you keep saving for an LS1 as well.

The Everything on it is much better.
