Smile Amp (& sub) question

Hey guys,

I'm someone who's a lot more concerned about power-to-weight than how much "thump" my car can generate, but I'm starting to think that I'd like my music to have some more range, & better quality. I'm not about to go out & start buying separate components, but I am thinking of getting a single 10" sub & one amplifier to drive both the sub, & the four (stock-type) speakers that are already in the car.

Since it's been a number of years since I've been into car audio, I figured I'd come to the experts...

Keep in mind that I'm saving for a cam - but with that in mind, what do you guys suggest?

(Also, since I don't really frequent this forum, I'd be appreciative for anyone who could copy replies to me in a PM. Thanks!)

Re: Amp (& sub) question

I just purchased a Hifonics Zeus ZX8000 amp and did the exact thing you are talking about last month. It's a 5-channel amp, 50x4 w/ a 200x1 sub output @ 4ohm. It's driving four 6.5" speakers and a 10" JL audio sub in a custom ported box.

You can see pics of the amp in my cardomain site in my sig. Pics are on the first page at the very bottom.

And yes I know it's not the CLEANEST install, but I don't want to poke holes in my carpet to run the wires through.

Re: Amp (& sub) question

I ran a single sub, an amp powering that sub, and the stock speakers off an aftermarket radio for years and it sounded great to me. You might even consider just doing that. It could save you a few bucks.
