I have had problems with the MAF recently. The car was running really bad. So the I open the hood and touch the MAF plug to make sure it is plugged in all the way. They car dies.

The plug is loose and enough that I can see it could lose contact. But wont the engine continue to run even without the MAF plugged in?

 

Usually when the maf becomes disconnected the car will stumble and possibly die. After you restart it the car should run fine. My friends car had a messed up plug and would lose contact all the time, he just got a new plug off another car and wired it in.
