Quick Cat-Back Question

Quick Cat-Back Question
I have a FireBird Formula WS6. It came with the SLP exhaust system on it. But my question is with a aftermarket catback exhaust system. What is it that makes it better then the one SLP offers stock with the car? Is it the way the pipes are bent? Is it the muffler? What is it exactly that makes it a better performer? Thanks.

I would keep the SLP unless you're looking for a dual-out system. There's really hardly any room for variation in design as far as a cat-back kit goes, the majority of flow characteristics come from the muffler design. Your SLP is a good kit otherwise.

For the cost of the muffler and to have it welded in, I would go ahead and replace the entire thing, especially since you can get an SLP Loudmouth kit for under $320.
The y-pipe is the largest restriction in the exhaust, but then again, so are the manifolds. If you replace the y-pipe, you might as well buy a set of headers to replace it altogether.

Your slp set up is just as good as anyother system out there. I wouldn't replace it unless you don't like the gay dual tips on one side. My friend has it on his Z and it sounds good just funny looking.
