Mass Airflow Meter

Car has been running rough and hesitating a little below 3K rpm's. And I got 2 codes refering to my MAF (P1133 and P1153). A little background. I hydrolocked my motor in May, fixed it and it messed up my MAF. Got a rebuilt one (with waranty), and it messed that one up in a few months. Now it's November and I am going to have to replace it again. Questions are, Why do I keep going through MAF's and will this cure my hesitation?

Can't tell you why they keep going bad but you can always unhook it and the car should run better in speed density mode. If it does run better than you can suspect the MAF again. Run like that until you get another one or find the problem. The check engine lights on already anyway. Nathan

Re: Mass Airflow Meter

You might want to check your codes again on a different list:

P1133 = O2 System - too few O2 R/L and L/R switches, Bank 1, Sensor 1

P1153 = O2 System - too few O2 R/L and L/R switches, Bank 2, Sensor 1

Not exactly "referring to (your) MAF". If you're replacing the MAF to cure O2 codes, you're on the wrong track.

How did you manage to "mess up" your MAF sensor twice in a few months?

Re: Mass Airflow Meter

Ok, guess I will tell the whole story. The Code reader that I have led me to believe that the MAF was bad. I double checked the code numbers and they were right. The code that I didn't tell you about was P1054. O2 sensor, bank 2. I thought I had 2 problems, but I guess they are all linked. The bank 2 sensor in my car is very close to my exhaust cutout. So what do I need to do about my hesitation?

So 3 codes
P1054
P1133
P1153

Re: Mass Airflow Meter

There is no P1054.... do you mean P1154, or maybe P0154?

What's the point in not posting all the info up front if you expect to get answers?

Re: Mass Airflow Meter

I thought they were two seperate things and did not want to confuse anyone. I will double check on that code.

Re: Mass Airflow Meter

So 3 updated codes
P0154
P1133
P1153

Sorry about the confusion. I didn't think the 2 things were related and didn't want to confuse anyone. Any additional help would be appreciated.
