Mass air flow upgrade

Hey guys, i was looking at maybe a little upgrade with my mass air flow sensor. I'm about to finally put my aluminum intake elbow on and figured a little extra air flow would help too. My question is are aftermarket MAF that claim 10-15 whp, such as http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku, worth the money? Do they actually work? Is there anything i can do to the stock maf to help it flow a little better?

Thanks
Chris

not worth it. your stock maf is not a restriction and the only thing you will gain is difficulty in tuning. for $300 you could pick up a used nitrous kit and get some real gains (or even a cam/roller rockers/tune)

Agreed - all I've ever heard is that it's a huge mistake to replace the MAF because it causes more issues than any performance gain.

Yup. Mess with your MAF and your fuel trims will show it.

As far as the Granatelli MAF sensor, it MAY produce a HP gain. It does that by intentionally miscalibrating (lowering) the high end flow numbers, to help lean out the overly rich stock WOT (PE mode) target A/F ratio. Its sort of hit or miss, at best.

You can get a guaranteed 10+HP gain by doing the same thing with a PCM tune - lean out the PE mode target A/F ratio - for about 1/2 the cost of the Granatelli.

Please do not offer "parts for sale" in the tech forums. Send a PM or e-mail.
