been trying to figure it out with no luck

been happening for a while now and i just cant find anything on it ....

i have a 1997 lt1 T/A running a delteq setup

when my car gets up to normal temp. and i turn it off and try to restart it, it dont wanna run.... sounds like it is crossfiring ... everything in the ignition system is now new :dunno:

when i hit the key it will just start and die, alot of the times i will hit the key a 2nd time and it starts and runs fine ... sometimes it takes 3-4 tries ...

when it starts after the problem it smells rich but with the delteq it should be getting great spark ... no codes and nothing affected other then starting ...

any ideas?

Does it crank and sputter a lot like it is trying to start, or just spin like the coil is unplugged? First thing I would check would be fuel pressure.

Sounds like a fuel probem. The fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump.

after it gets hot and i try to start it .. it will crank like normal, fire, and then if i hold the gas down it will run... but have to hold gas to the floor and it sounds like its crossfiring ... as soon as i let off it dies ...

have fuel pressure gauge hooked up and its around 35psi, well between there and 40 psi

Do a fuel pressure leak-down test.

It sounds like that somehow it not only is priming the system it is putting fuel in the engine.(brilliant deduction,Watson)
Do you have a tune on the computer?

I have/had similiar issues. Mine are a lot less pronounced. When i try to restart within 1 hour of driving, i need several tries sometimes and just one others. I replaced the icm and it improved a lot and now i just hold the key longer while starting and not really an issue anymore.

had a custom tune and swapped it for a factory tune , no change ....

" replaced the icm and it improved a lot and now i just hold the key longer while starting and not really an issue anymore."

i also replaced the ICM when i swapped in the delteq, made no difference ...

when it does this i dont have to hold the key, it will run but i have to hold the gas and its badly misfiring ...

last night really got me ... started it after was hot and it did the normal not wanting to run thing ... 2nd time it did it but no where near as bad , just like it had a miss or something .. so i turned it off and restarted it and ran fine ...

ok after talking with a couple people that have had same kinda probs they are tellin me to look into the fuel system ... mostly the injectors ... i know very little about them myself .. is there a way that i can test them ?
and does this sound like it could be a leaky injector ?

Do you have access to a scan tool? Check the coolant temp sensor.
