Mass Air Conversion On 93' Lt1?

I was wondering how hard this is. I heard you need a new ECU, but the 94+ ECU's wont match up to my transmission b/c it is that funky year in which that wierd trans was made. Its a mixture of the 700r4 and the 4l60e. Is there a way to do this w/o changing my ecu or w/o changing my transmission? Anything to help me out is much apreciated. I can't stand this speed density garbage.

Your transmission is a 700R4, 93 was when they renamed it to the 4L60.

You will probably need to change the ECM and harness with a 94-95 PCM and harness and wire up a swtich to lock the converter up manually.

I personally think it would be too much of a pain to do this conversion on your car.
What problems are you having with the SD setup you have?

I can see wanting to change because of ease of tuning, but I looked into it with my old car, and it just seemed like too much hassle.

The only difference between the 4l60 and the 4l60e is that the PCM does the shifting.
If you have the 93 ECM & your tranny is electronically shifted then you have a stand alone tranny PCM.

Tuneing the 93's are cake now with all the emulation tools out.

Besides that, they are stronger cause they dont' have to deal with a MAF sensor upstream
