MAP Sensor... common symptoms?

Just curious what some common problems/symptoms come up with a bad MAP sensor. I'm sitll trying to pinpoint the surge @ cruise or while loading up the engine (like right before a race). Any other time the surge is not there. Not at idle, not at WOT. just at a cruise. Also, at idle... the engine isn't real smooth, you can feel it sometimes. It almost feels like an ignition miss, but ive checked all that out. Maybe an O2 sensor? I dunno.

Thanks for the help.

Re: MAP Sensor... common symptoms?

Clean your EGR valve, that could be causing a rough idle

Re: MAP Sensor... common symptoms?

I recently replaced a 120k mile MAP sensor with a brand new one. Data logging shows exactly the same readings between the two. I'd consider them highly reliable.

pull the map sensor off the intake, turn it over and clean the hole out with electronic cleaner.

Re: MAP Sensor... common symptoms?

It would realy help if you could get some data logging or some kind of scan tool that shows real time sensor data. However the symptoms your describing kind of sounds like an o2 sensor. I had one go out and it caused erratic operation at cruise, plus a miss at idle. It would miss realy bad at 60 mph in 6th gear and more than 25% throttle also. It all went away after I replaced the sensor.

Re: MAP Sensor... common symptoms?

I have pulled and cleaned the egr, I'll try cleaning the map next. I remember looking at the scantool and I think bank 1 sensor 1 was always lower than the rest. I think the other 3 were boucning between 500-950 and that one was 80s. I'll double check, but I remember one of them always reading WAY lower than the other. THanks for hte input!
