Map high (code 33) and related problems : help
Hello,
i just ended up assembling my engine with the following mods :
* new LE2 heads,
* LE 1.5 cam
* Comp cam pushrods
* new O2 sensors and extensions
* new tune from madwolf
* new 30 lb injectors
* 52 mm Holley TB
after this and with the new tune. I start the car and get a 33 code (Map High). The car will idle really bad until it reach operating temp and go to close loop. The 33 code stays when the car is idling and go off when you drive it.
Also, the car (when hot only) have a decent idle in neutral at about 950 rpm but the idle fall to 450 rpm when you engage the trans (erratic idle) and then the code come again.
For more, as i first suspect a trouble with an exhaust leak getting my new O2 sensors wrong i looked at the exhaust gaskets and i found some water on the some exhausts from the heads (after i just warm the engine for a few seconds).
The head gaskets are brand news, i put permatex sealant on all bolts (new ARP ones) and torque them to specifications. I also take a rocker cover appart to check torque on the bolts.
So question is :
* the water i found on the exhaust can be normal after a night without running engine and just firing the engine the day after ?
* can it be related to my map problem ?
Any idea on my problem ?

For starters..... please read the post stickied at the top of the forum regarding abuse of "TTT" or other ways over forcing your post to the top without waiting 24-hours. Expecting someone to respond in only a few hours is not necessarily realistic. Getting sarcastic does not increase your chances of getting help.

The cam overlap may produce low vacuum at idle, which means high MAP readings. If the MAP is over 68kPa at idle, the code sets. Ask Bret if the LE1.5 should produce more vacuum than that. May also indicate incorrect valve adjustment, excessive misfires, etc.

I raised the idle, didn't help. I changed plugs, didn't help. I noticed that my iac was maxxed out and wouldn't move, so I took it apart, cleaned and reset it. The idle is still down some, but no more code. You may try that.
sorry injuneer. Didn't wanted to disturbed at all
I made a datalog of my car running from cold start until it goes to closed loop. If anyone can give a look to it, it would be nice. I can send it by email on request.
Also, i've got a "low coolant" code after driving a few miles (come again if i refill). is there a way to check if i have a leack at the head gasket ? I beleive that can cause the misfire i got too

What "code" did you get for low coolant? The coolant level sensor is not hooked up to the PCM. It just turns on the dash light showing low coolant symbol. Or do you mean you have a code for low coolant temperature?
after my uncle built his ls1 and put a big cam and heads on it... his wouldn't idle either... he had it tuned at a dyno shop and they fixed it all up not sure what all they changed but thats prolly your problem
take it to get tuned for your new mods
