Manual fan switch turns SES light on
Manual fan switch turns SES light on
Ok I hooked up a manual fan switch and now i'm getting a SES light when my car is running. I have a 3 prong switch which are power, acc, and ground. The ground is wired to a stud that goes back to negative side of the battery. The power goes to the the postive side of the battery (under the little red pos box) and the accessory goes the blue high speed fan wire (which has a diode put in it )before the harness connects. So what did i do wrong to trip a SES light?

I didn't think OBD1 cars set off a code when the high speed fan comes on unexpectedly.
Here's the schematic from shoebox's site that has the layout and resistor location to keep an OBD2 car from setting off an SES light.

He should be using the OBD-I diagram for a 1995. Without knowing exactly how it is connected, there is no way to tell what might be causing the problem. What are you switching to the blue fan wire-voltage or ground?
Yea i didnt think it was supposed to either but just a few seconds after i turn my car on i get a SES light and the fans come on. And i even disconnected the wire going to the high speed fan wire and im still getting a SES. How can i reset the ECU?
I spliced into the blue wire and wrapped some wire around it and ran that to my switch and that is connected to the power part of my switch. And then i have a wire grounded to a stud beside the small red + power box and then another wire that goes to the red power box and that is connected to the Accessory part of the switch.
Do you understand what your switch is doing? Sounds like you are putting 12v power onto the blue wire. That's a good way to fry something in the PCM. You should be applying a ground to that wire. I'm a bit foggy on following what you did...
Could you tell me how to wire it up. I have a 3 prong switch that's illuminated so i want that to work. So i have 3 seperate wires and where do i hook those up.
Right now i have one wire that's spliced into the blue high speed fan and that runs back to my switch. Another wire that is grounded that runs to the switch, and then a 3rd wire hooked up to the red box which is i guess 12 volts which allows the switches light to work.

Ok well i unplugged everything and even removing the pcm fuse (not sure how long im supposed to remove it) I'm still getting a SES light within a few minutes of start up. And i dont have a way of scanning it because noone around here understands the ob2 plug deal on my car or doesnt have a ob1 scanner. So the only way is to drive about an hour away and i dont have tags on my car since it doesnt pass emissions so im pretty much screwed.
