Manual fan switch

Anyone know how to wire up a manual fan switch on a 96 z28? I'd like to do it through the relays???

Thanks

Re: Manual fan switch

The dark green wire and the dark blue wire from the two fan relays in the fuse box (under hood) need to go to ground for the fans to turn on. Doublecheck your colors, cause I have a 95. Splice into them, run the wires to 2 separate SPST switches (separate control) or one DPST switch (controls both at once) which have one pole grounded, and you have your $60 fan kit.

Re: Manual fan switch

I have a home made 2 speed fan switch I rigged years ago. It contains 4 relays.
2 for the fans
1 for the ground wire off the fans that feeds back into the PCM (96 and up)
1 for a momentary push button. I have a switch that turns the fans on half voltage and then the push button turns the fans on w/ full. I found out that if I turned the fans on at first w/ full foltage it would blow one of the inline fuses I had in the wiring. However I also found out the switch was faulty so I'm not completely sure the switch was to blame.
I wish I still had the schematic but it was lost into oblivion soon after I got it working. If SLP is still around (I honestly don't know) they have a fan switch that's pulg and play.

I wish I would've known that before using three thousand pounds of wire to rig mine up.

Well.. I had a Haynes manual. Reason why it was rigged this way is I wasn't sure if it would throw a code if the fans were manually turned or if the PCM tried to turn them on because of that PCM routed ground wire.

Re: Manual fan switch

you can have a SLP one through Summit for not so much. I have one and plug it in just a few minutes. Really simple
