MALF 43 - ESC Fail, knock sensor checks out
MALF 43 - ESC Fail, knock sensor checks out
I've been chasing down ignition problems for the past 2 weeks and ended up replacing the PCM. However, I didn't find out till after I got it that the PCM came out of a Fleetwood. Anyway, hooked up the new PCM and it finally fired up, hooked up my laptop and I'm gettin 8*'s of retard and a Code 43 error. I swapped out the LT4 KM I had in my PCM and had the same problem. I've checked the knock sensor and have 5V at the connector as well as 4900 ohms between the sensor and the block. I bought a new KM the other day and tried it and I still get the Code 43 and 8*'s pulled out. Any suggestions?
Re: MALF 43 - ESC Fail, knock sensor checks out
thats the problem im having. Im about to replace my Knock sensor (in teh block) and see if that gets rid of my code.
Also i think its causing me to lose power cause i went to a dyno tune today and only pulled 316/315 on a 355 forged 236/242 cam with full bolt ons, 3200 stall and a cutout!
seems a bit off huh?
they said the KS should pick up about another 10-15hp

Re: MALF 43 - ESC Fail, knock sensor checks out
When you measured 5V on the harness wire, was the connector on or off the sensor? That's the spec for the wire disconnected. With the wire connected, you should see about 2.5V on the wire. The code sets if the voltage is outside the range of 1.5-3.5V.

i replaced mine. SES went away, but its came back on at idle, but when driving it goes away. LIke before it was always on. Also the ses comes on sometimes at a stop/idle but not all times.
weird
getting it scanned so yea!

I'm having the exact same problem. I need to test the voltage with the connector plugged in. I i just put a new sensor in the block hoping it would make it go away!
