Main bearing& Cam
here ya go. It's always a risk modifying a motor, it can be done successfully though. I don't think i'd be cracking open a 160k mi motor, but thats just one opinion.

Just lost my motor after 3 days of heads and cam on a 40,000 mile block
Car was down for almost 1yr and half and now I have 0 Oil Pressure and a weird sound. Sure Wish I would have read about this first.

96chardedramair: Did you just lose your motor since I talked with you last?? omg!!
I don't know why this is LT1 specific. Block is not much different from older chevy blocks as far as the stated problem goes. IMO, bearing failure is most likely caused by not enough oil at startup. I think prelubing the engine is important if it has sat for some time. Also keeping the block and bearings lubed if they are to sit with WD-40 or similar to prevent rust. Other than that, dirty installs run second, crap on the oil screen, and crap that marks up the bearings. And not to mention, dropping a cam lob on one during removal.

motor
Yeap I think its gone =( I have 0 oil pressure at idel and about 5-8 psi driven. thought first it was the sending unit but I changed it and got the samething now the car does not want to stay running. Im going to drop the oil pan in a few days and see what happen I bet I did get on the car but maybe 2 times.
Man, sorry to hear that. That suxs @ss just hearing that happen to someone. Yeah, I would cut the filter and check for metal in the gauze padding too. May want to put in some heavy oil, like 20w-50 and see if you get some pressure back.
