ltcc plug wires

Can someone please tell me what kind of wires will work with My ltcc setup
I have the stock manifold and the coils mounted on the valve cover.

I can't find a single company that will see me a cut to fit set for ls1's
so A part number ould be really awesome right now.

Re: ltcc plug wires

Just get a hold of Thunder racing. They sell a kit for the LT1 that you cut to fit and then put the boot/terminal on. They are the Taylor Spiro Pro's. That is what I am running on my LTCC.

What bracket are you running on the VC?

Second the taylors. Easy to make and they work well with the LTCC.

Re: ltcc plug wires

I'm about to go try the 12" LS1 wires for a chevy SSR.
I'm pretty sure it's going to work

Re: ltcc plug wires

The LS1 wires weren't near long enough for my LTCC setup and my coils are mounted on the MBA fuel rail covers. I went with the Taylors per Bob Baily's reccomendation. I had MSD 8.5's and he told me not to use them as they tend to cause problems.

hmmm that's funny bob recommend the magnecor's for my setup? and I believe mine where around 16.5 inches and the pass. are on custom bracket's and the driver's I used the ls1 bracket. I mounted mine on my valve cover's also let me know if you need an exact measurement.

Re: ltcc plug wires

well, first off let me be clear about this. Mine are mounted by the valve cover bolts, not off the fuel rail. Which means my wires don't need to be as long.
Also, keep in mind that 98+ camaros use 8" wired while the SSR's use 12"
The boot on the coil side is also quite long, probably long enough to clear the stock manifold. I haven't seen under the hood of a SSR yet, but judging by the wires, it looks like it was designed to compensate for a rising exaust manifold.

Well, since nobody has tried this yet, I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow morning.

Re: ltcc plug wires

My coils are mounted to covers via oem LS1 brkts. I used a no nonsense approach to plug wires. I didn't care to use a length any longer than necessary. To give me the 'optimum' length required the correct angled ends for the application. I've got straight on the coil, and appr. 100* on plugs. Deviating from this will affect the correct length of the wire. By 'correct' I'm implying no longer than necessary, and no undo pulling or tension on wire. For me the oem application wire length, would have been too short, regardless of the boot comfiguration. What boot configuration is on the oem LS1 wire? The 12" length, PLUS the likelihood of less than an optimum boot angle, which would require an unnecessary longer wire, tells me those wires will NOT work for you. My wires (optimum length) are 12 3/4", overall, tip to tip. I ordered my custom wires (tailored length and specific boots) from Magnecor. Custom Taylors would be ok as well, AFAIC. BB considers both, as acceptable choices.

Re: ltcc plug wires

The boot angles are straight. and if your wires which mount off the fuel rail are 12 3/4,
then 12 seems about right for a valve cover mounted application.
tomorrow evening my taylor's should be in I'll let you know how it goes

You're in trouble! Does it pay to post helpful info, if you're not gonna bother, to read it.....carefully?
Where did I state I mounted coils, and how?
What plug boots did I state I am using?
What did I state would result, with use of incorrect boot angles?

Re: ltcc plug wires

I ended up changing my mind and went with a taylor cut to fit set, because it was 10 bucks checper anyway. All my wire lengths came out to anywhere bwtween 11 1/2 and 12 1/2 with a straight boot on the coil and a 135 degree boot at the plug. So the 12 inch wires wouldn't have worked but the boot angles were right.

Re: ltcc plug wires

I found a set of taylor wires at home, I think it took one long Taylor universal to make all the wires LOL, then I used the LS1 coil boots as they are designed for the bigger LS1 coil ends, the LT1 opti ends are thinner and when yuu put the LT1 boot on the LS1 coils it looks funny. I then used MSD boots on the end, heck the amount of wires I went through back in the day with optis I have tons of MSD wires/taylor laying around doing nothing, so I used some of their parts and makes a nice wire. A nice MSD boot, taylor wire, stock LS1 coil end. I also use stock LS1 brackets glued to my composite valve covers, works great and if I pull real hard it comes off.

Re: ltcc plug wires

I finally got around to measureing mine and they were 14.25 inches from tip (at the coil) to tip (right before it makes the 90 degree turn). There's slack in them though.
