lt4 hot cam VS cc503

I have a hot cam in my 96 lt1, other mods are insignificant, and i will be pulling

my engine to have it rebuilt this summer, i want to know if its worth the money

to buy a cc503 and throw out the hot cam. I will be porting heads too. how

much of an effect will it make if i go with the cc503?

Thanks!

Get rid of the Hotcam, I recently bought one. Apparently from what everyone here says I got taken. The Hotcams are old news & there are much better cams out there including the one you are thinking of buying.

I would say the cc503 is worth a extra 10-15rwhp over the hot cam.

218/228 .495/.495 112LSA vs 224/230 .502/.510 with more lift, less overlap, more aggressive lobes and all else equal the XE503 will be better in nearly every aspect.

How much will the heads be ported? That will also determine on what grind will benefit you the best.

im not really sure how much they're going to be ported, the guy who is

rebuilding the engine was going to match the heads to the cam that i bought.

Hope he knows what he's doing [matching the heads to the cam]. Most "engine builders" are self-proclaimed masters and end up screwing up more than they help when it comes to heads. If you search enough on this site you'll find guys making less power with "engine builder" ported heads than guys with stock ones. Don't say you weren't warned.

Right on.

I've never seen a local head porter even come close to the LT1-specific porters available, so don't expect to set the world on fire.
