LT4 Hot cam with LT4 valve springs...

Anyone running this combo? If so, any problems with valve float?

Thanks,

I run that combo, and I don't have any valve float, but then, I still use the stock programming and the stock redline. I don't know if there will be any valve float over 6k rpm.

Get some springs that were made for the job. People assume "LT4 springs" are complementary with "LT4 HOTcam" - untrue.

The LT4 springs are designed for use with the LT4 cam, not the HOTcam. The LT4 springs work good for someone looking to go with a 1.6 rocker on a stock cam because of their price and availability.

I don't really want to change the springs again. Is there any gain to be had from the LT4 cam?

So let me get this strait. The Hot cam kit comes with LT4 springs, but aren't the right spring rate for the cam. Or does the Hot cam kit come with different springs?

Those springs will be fine if you dont plan on spinning the engine up over 6200rpms or so. They arent the best but they are adaquit. I ran that combo without a problem for a while.

I run the springs with kit and have custom programming with shifts at about 6200 rpm. Not a lick of problem.

Kyle,

Do you by any chance remember what the part number was for the 94 cam, also what else would I need besides the cam and some programming to do the install? I all ready have the rockers and springs in the car.

I'm sorry I don't know the part #. I just bought the entire Hotcam kit as a whole. I thought that the cam was the same, 95+ with longer dowel, and if you were going to stick with the non-vented 93-94 Opti, you just needed to ground down the dowel or have it pushed in some. I'm not sure. Some precautionary items I replaced while it was done was new timing set and new Opti. I went with a stock timing set and my Opti had 80+k miles on it. You may want to consider just swapping to a 95+ vented Opti since they are cheaper anyway and you wouldn't have to worry about the cam dowel problems. I also use a mail order tune from Bryan @ PCMforless and he has it pretty much dialed in for the Hotcam. I drive mine everyday, putting about 75 miles/day and it runs like a champ. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Good luck,

Kyle
