Lt4 Hot Cam Install Times
Re: Lt4 Hot Cam Install Times
Oh but back on topic.... get a new oil pan gasket and change it because you will more than likely break the stock front seal on the pan when you pull the timing cover. If you can spring the extra cash for it get the LT4 composite valve covers because they work with the rockers better than clearanced stockers. GMPP guidelplates are a good idea but not really a requirement when using SA rockers that come with the kit. Good extra insurance.
Re: Lt4 Hot Cam Install Times
RTV'ing the oil pan gasket where it rips (I cut them now) is 100% ok to do as well. If done right it won't leak and you don't have to worry about new leaks forming if it's not leaking out the back already.

Gotcha, $700 for all you mentioned, "all seals replaced" being all items related to the cam swap, including timing cover seals, intake gasket, etc.
You provide all parts/gaskets
We're about 2 hours away and we'd need the car for the weekend, starting with Saturday morning, preferably Friday night to cool down.

All I have to do is finish up setting the height on the oil pickup, install my accessories, install lifters/spider/oil pump drive, intake manifold, wiring harness...
Mate it to the tranny, dump it on the crossmember and up she goes. Should be a busy weekend

lt1srule -> cool man thanks, you know where to find me!

Re: Lt4 Hot Cam Install Times
With the hotcam kit you can use your stock valve covers just fine without a need to clearance them so I would just save the $$ there. The one major stall on my install was taking the hub off. Make sure you search this forum because you will need a certain kind of puller and a grade 8 bolt to do it easily. Also, as mentioned, if you are careful when taking the timing cover off you can repair any small rips in your oil pan seal with some RTV. Good luck!
