LT4 AFR heads

Hey guys, i'm in the process of building a 383 LT1, but i'm still unsure of what heads i'm going to run. I would like to use the AFR 215cc LT4 heads. I know I will need the LT4 intake, but if i run that intake and heads will that change any accessory location, like the alternator, power steering pump, etc....Also are the PVC, vaccum lines, and EGR still in the same spot on the LT4 intake? And will the fuel rails from the LT1 work on the LT4 intake. Do I need a different timing cover, do I have to use a LT4 timing chain, there are so many questions I have. Has anyone run these heads with the LT4 intake?

Re: LT4 AFR heads

You are grossly over complicating this. All accessories are fine, LT1 timing chain is fine but with an electric waterpump you could use a Gen 1 timing set.

The only real differences in the LT4 intake are it is red and there is more materila above the port to seal to the taller LT4 ports. Notice I said more material. The plenum and ports are the same and located the same as an LT1 intake, if you want one to match LT4 heads you need to have it ported. That said they are no longer available new so the used price as gotten really stupidly high. Might look into having material welded on top of the ports of an LT1 intake then having it machined true again and porting that, likely cheaper than an LT4 intake at this point.

Re: LT4 AFR heads

LT4 intake will not match up to AFR 215 heads due to raised ports. You will need to use spacers or get a custom intake.

AFR 210/220/227 will work.
