Lt4
Re: Lt4
Most people don't really run the complete LT4 conversion. The reason they don't is what you'll pay for the LT4 conversion you could get your stock heads ported,a much better cam, and make way more hp than the LT4 setup. The ported stock heads and better cam would probably cost less too.

This subject keeps coming up so lets bury it once & for all with facts & not rumors. For the dyno results on the LT4 heads & then cam swap go to:

Re: Lt4
can you get better flow from a set of lt4 heads that have been ported than you can get from a set of lt1 heads with the same porting work?assuming all veribles are the same such as shop doing the work and flow bench ect.and both sets have been ported to their max capibilities

Re: Lt4
Per the above articles: the LT1 heads have 170 cc ports verus the 195cc LT4
ports. So using these sizes as a starting point it becomes obvious that 25 cc [.100] is a nice increase. Note that these sizes are the for full lenght of the port. I was shown the diff at a locl head porting shop & was suprised that the diff was so great. When you look at the port from the outside top of the head you notice the diff as the port passes the valve spring seat. No to mention the diff when you compare the intake gaskets. Remember we are talking "starting points" here.

Re: Lt4
AFR 195 heads = 195cc intakes. Look around for a used pair of LT 4 heads at your local head porter. Or post a wanted to buy post here. Thats what I did.
Or you can get a new pair for GOLAN ENGINES for $900. What I like about these heads is the Sodium filled intake valves, so light you won't belive it
.
I had the CompCams Bee Hive valve springs installed, this setup should be good to 6800+ rpm.
