Re: LT1 vs ls1

Well, it's rather silly to compare a stock LT1 and a stock LS1. Yes, you've got 3.73's on the LT1, but that doesn't make up for the 30 more HP the LS1 makes...

I thought this thread was called Lt1 vs LS1!!!!!!!!!!!!

The LT1 has more than just 3.73's and the LS1 still feels quicker seat of the pants

Re: LT1 vs ls1

Which is better, thats easy, which ever one you can go drive right now!!

I like em both, hell i like em all, why not throw in the L98 and the LS2 as well, 327, 454, 427, 305, 350, carbeurated, injected, manual, auto, Alllllright!!! Each of these fine american V-8s has it's own personality, and attitude, and shortcomings. If I have to pick one it will be the one I have, thats not sayin I wouldn't take yours for a spin. If i had 2 I'd be atleast an hour late every day deciding which one to take, and I'd probably go back for the other one at lunch. I love the LT1 cuz it's the last of the old school blocks, sharing it's base design with engines from 40 years ago. Making the same raw power and torque, and doing so reliably and relatively efficiently and clean. I love the LS1 cuz it proves an engine can still have 8 holes, just one cam, and a mess of pushrods, and still outperform all those gimmicky "advanced" engine designs. Who needs 300 hp from 7500-8000rpms, I want 300lb-ft from 1500-6000rpms. LT1 vs LS1, naaaa, GM vs the world

I love it!!

The only thing that's got me peeved about GM right now is no Camaros and Mudstains are becoming like belly buttons.

I think the whole debate of LT1 vs LS1 is pointless. Who cares if the LS1's are faster out of the box? When it comes down to potential HP, they're about the same in the end, only the LT1 is cheaper to modify, since it's an older design. It all boils down to personal preference. It doesn't matter to me anyways which is better, seeing how I own an LT1 Camaro and an LS1 Trans Am...

My $0.02...

I'd suspect that when we're all old and grey, 4th-gen fans will still be arguing about this. Each engine has its merits and drawbacks, each has a following. But trying to reach a consensus on which is better would be like starting a thread asking "What is the best paint colour for a Camaro?"

But here's something a little scary: With the LS2's and LS6's out there, and the 500HP LS7 soon to be unleashed, the LT1 vs. LS1 question is no longer "Which is better?". Unfortunately the question is becoming "Who cares anymore?"

PS: LT1's rule

Re: LT1 vs ls1

The main thing I think people have against the LT1 is the optispark, and all the bogging/stumbling/hesitation threads caused by them. I want to save up for and LS1 (faster stock and no opti) , but I know my LT1 looks better and they sound better too!

Re: LT1 vs ls1

You can have an LT1 w/o the optispark. You have two choices: Delteq or LTCC.

Cool Re: LT1 vs ls1

Hey sorry I brought this back from the grave but I'm just searching on stuff about my newly aquired LS1.

They are both oustanding cars and I can't believe my luck to have both a once my 99 Z28 LS1 cost me £5000 ($8500) which is really cheap as they usually go for £6000 - £7000 ($10000 - $12000)i n the UK

Re: LT1 vs ls1

Anymore, well with the people around here atleast, if your not an LS1, they wont even acknowledge your existance. Ive been mocked by a few LS1 guys before. It has always been to me that if its got a nice motor, its fast, and a muscle car, then its all the same. We are all trying to do the same, go fast and look good doing it. Sure this topic will be beaten to death until the end of time, but if i were to have to decide between an LT1 Vs. LS1 i would most likely pick neither. My personal opinion is i am not an Fbody fan. I own one and love it, but i wouldnt do it again. Who cares what one is better. What matters is that you are here because you like a nice sounding, fast, good looking muscle car. Sure the LS1 will beat an LT1 stock per stock any day of the week. Both motors have pros and cons. Dont break each others stones cause they have an LT1 or they have an LS1. Be happy for now that we can still afford to drive the vehicles. If the price of gas keeps going up the arguement will no longer be LS1 vs LT1, it will be a Schwinn Vs. a Huffy.

ls1 way better and easyer to make power! I make 413whp with just a cam and a few bolton's. My 1/4 mile times are high 11's and i get 28mph on the hwy As people say ls1 cost more yeah right i have 12,000 in my hole car mods, cost of car everything! You have to do twice as much to make a lt1 run with a ls1 mod for mod!
