LT1 Valve Covers

Will these valve covers work for a stock LT1?

Alternator might hit the front of the passenger one, but not by much

Re: LT1 Valve Covers

somewhere on this interweb is a guide on how to do it, you basically have to trim a part of the altenator housing with a dremel or such

It's a std short cover, it should just bolt on.

Re: LT1 Valve Covers

But it appears it's missing the notch in the front of the passenger side that the stock LT1 cover requires to clear the bottom/back of the alternator.

I don't remember the stock covers having a notch, I run the "tall" 141-131 Proform covers and they're not notched. Massaged the alt a bit. Others have used the same covers also.

Re: LT1 Valve Covers

There's a notch on my 94, and a "search" will turn up numerous posts on other LT1 sites discussing the issue with the "notch". Take a look at what Canton did to allow their aluminum valve covers to fit with the stock alternator.

Re: LT1 Valve Covers

Yep, they have a notch for the alternator to clear. The Proform covers will fit but you may need to disassemble and clearance the back of the alternator just a little bit.
