LT1 transplant problems

I have a friend that recently put an LT1 out of a 94 Z28 A4 car into his 66 Nova. He bought a 6 speed tranny to go in it.

The car runs and everything like that but he is having problems like when he downshifts sometimes it will just quit. Someone told him that it maybe something to do with putting the 6 speed in with an A4 computer.

Opinions please, could a computer tune help it out? Or is there something else wrong with it?

I would say it would be best to re-flash the ECM with a 6Speed program, idle timing and fuel is different since there is no load with 6S at idle and there is with an auto4. I'm sure there's some other minor things besides the transmission controlls that are with an A4. I had just the reverse problem, I had an auto tranny, but had a 6S PCM, just reflashed with a A4 program, no need to switch PCMs, just reflash.

Yes, if he's running the A4 PCM, he needs to reflash to a 6 speed program.

this could be a ground problem. when the engine moves, it could short something out
