lt1 shortblock same as 70s 350 ?
Re: lt1 shortblock same as 70s 350 ?
Actually, the LT1 heads and intake are popular for the 3rd Gen guys. Its a matter of plugging up a couple coolant passages and drilling a couple new ones. Cheaper and lighter than a set of Vortec heads.
In addition to the head coolant passages, the entire front of the Gen 1 SBC and the LT1 blocks are totally different, due to the water pump provisions and the Optispark distributor drive.

It's really only economical to swap if you can do the machine work yourself. Once you pay for someone else to do the work to the heads you'll be into the conversion for what a good aftermarket heads will cost.
