LT1 Seafoam

Yes I realize that there have been a ton of posts about this. But lets make a new one. List your experiences with this product. I am thinking of using it before I change out the headers, 02 sensors, cam, water pump, rockers, valve springs, lifters. How long have you guys been using this stuff? How long till your engine blew up? What caused the failures? I have done alot of reading on this, I would like to have my motor all cleaned out. Is there anything I should look out for like oil pump failures? Talk about it below.

Re: LT1 Seafoam

I haven't blown my motor or had any internal problems, but I have used the Seafoam once. It seemed to do a good job of cleaning, but I'm sure continued use will see the most gain out of it instead of just a one-time deal. There is a lot of smoke that comes out when using it, so just make sure you work it all through before driving because it may seem to be done smoking... but once you start to drive it starts again. I can't remember if I put any in the oil.... or if you are even supposed to, it's been a while. I just poured it into a vac line on the TB and made sure to do it slowly hehe.

I never noticed I had duplicate posts? I know how to edit them just fine thanks for explaining though.

I have heard the same. I figured I was changing the cat, 02's out which are the parts I hear everybody messes up. I have also read some horror stories. Want to feel more comfortable with the product before I go sticking it into my engine.

Re: LT1 Seafoam

When I used it on my 96 LT1 with over 100k on her, I was replacing my 02's and about to do a complete tune up so I dont know if it helped it or not? Now it did smoke like crazy though! I see lots of posts saying it will hurt 02's but usually they are all from people that have not tried it, I dont see too many people saying they had personally had a problem out of it? I will be putting it in my probe here soon so I will let you know what happens with it.

Re: LT1 Seafoam

I put in the 4.0 in my Jeep wrangler. Smoked like crazy like its supposed to.
The engine runs smoother but I dont feel any gains. I will start gauging MPG.

I have added a full can to the gas tank.

The jury is still out if it will go in the z28.

Re: LT1 Seafoam

I do it and i generally run it through right before i change my plugs because i can imagine that it could foul them up pretty bad.

was very nervous @ 107k but afterwards ive never had the car idle better. car had been sitting in a junkyard for 2 years so i figured it could use it - think i poured can in gas- and sucked 3/4 of can through my brakebooster line- just held it and poured in slowly untill about halfway then poured rest till she stalled...let her sit for 10 min and on 2nd try she started up.....

just make sure you change your oil pretty soon afterwards.
i lucked out and O2's and sparkplugs held up fine for another year untill i decided to build the motor.

good luck
