It is an underhood fire blanket in case there is a fire under the hood when it is closed. Suppose to fall on the motor when those black tabs melt and help smother the fire.

I didn't say it worked.

I thought it was an emergency blanket in case your car stalls and leaves you stranded out in sub 0* weather ....

I think im going to leave it on there, seems like it would help the engine warm up in the winter.
