LT1 nitrous ross pistons for 6 inch rod?

Ok I was able to get these heavy duty ross pistons real cheap. But the thing is I want to shoot a 200 shot of nitrous with Lloyd Elliots LE2 package with these but these pistons are for a 6 inch rod. I have read to use a 5.7 inch rod so the piston can be thicker for nitrous. Do you think I will still be ok if I spray a 200 shot of nitrous on top of Lloyd Elliots LE2 package with these pistons. The part number is 90465 and the specifications for this piston is http://www.rosspistons.com/items.php...&ItemTypeID=25 Thanks for any help.

They say that there good for a 250 hit(u already know that) on their site but they are not recommended for FI cars above 8psi. It don't even know if they are forged? They should be good, what crank and rods are you using?

I figured I would use eagle forged crank and eagle forged h-beam rods since I am not trying to build a 800 horsepower engine.

I think you will be fine with the 6" rod, when i was building my 383 I had a eagle forged crank, 6" h beams, and flat top SRP's...When I talked to Nitrous Express they told me that I would be able to spray a 200 shot without a sweat. I think its more a factor when using a stroker crank with the longer rod because it crowds the ring pack, and the compression height is smaller. You should be fine, there are stock bottom ends holding that much shot...so don't worry about it man.

Set the ring gap up correctly and have custom tuning done on the dyno with the spray activated so you make sure to not lean it out and you should be fine.... In the future I would stay away from ross pistons....not that the material or strength is bad, just not nearly as nice quality as comparable priced pistons like wiseco and mahle and SRP. Look for sharp edges around the machined pockets and file these smooth - that is a problem with the ross pistons and can cause detonation especially with nos.

If you are running a 3.48" crank, you should be OK with a 6.00" rod. I have a 3.75" crank, 5.85" rods and BME nitrous pistons, spraying a 300-shot (800HP total). Your compression height with a 3.48" crank/6.00" rods would only be 0.015" less than mine with the 3.75"/5.85" combo.
