Could a bad ICM or coil cause codes 16 and 36?
Could a bad ICM or coil cause codes 16 and 36?
My car runs great for 10 min. or so then dies a quick death. It then starts back up in a few minutes and runs real good again. I replaced the ICM and it still dies. I ran freescan and it shows codes 16 and 36 with the car running so they are stored. Did they get there when the car died due to a bad coil or bad ICM?
Any advice is welcome.

Disconnet your battery or pull the pcm fuse to reset your codes and rescan it.
Codes 16 and 36 belong to your Distributor ignition system. I'd do another scan first before you start thinking Opti just yet. Do a search for Shoebox's web site. Good info in there.

16 and 36 are directly attributed to the optispark. If you see a code 16 and the engine has been running, it must have been a brief occurance. If a 16 is hard set/active, the engine would not run. 16 is usually a sign your opti is going or you have a connection/corrosion problem in the harness plugs.
