LT1 gone retarded

I was coming home from school on Friday getting of the interstate to my exit to go home and when i left school my fuse for my gauge blew and ive been replacing them left and right and i know its a short to ground.
But what happened when i got off the exit i was sitting at the light, and my car started idling rough and when i would drive it felt like all 8 cylinder were not there i get home, and shut the car off replace the fuse turn the key and everything light up except for my battery gauge it sat at 0 volts and would not start.
Then i check later, and i have voltage but the car will not start im just hearing a clicking from the engine could it be the distributor or the alternator???

As always thank for your help
George.

I'm interpreting that statement as saying the starter is not cranking the engine. If that is the correct interpretation, its a battery problem, a wire problem, or an ignition switch problem. It wouldn't be the distributor. If the battery is badly discharged, it could be a failing battery, or a failing alternator.

1) have the battery checked.

2) check the positive and negative battery cables, and the connections at the starter for damage or corrosion.

3) is your "SECURITY" light on?

I'm going to ASSume that is the answer to the question "is your 'SECURITY' light on?". Probably would have been a good idea to include that info in your original post.

I know i had the same problem with my car with the security light coming on. I would come on when i would be driving and once in a while it would light when i would try to start the car. It would obviously not let me start the car. I would sit and wait until the security light was gone. Eventually one day the light started blinking. A wire on the ignition switch broke. It could be why the fuse is taking a dump on your.
