LT1 Cranks With Starter cant spin by hand

okay so got the wiring problem figured out and now ive gone on and cranked the car a few times with the starter cause its been so long. pulled the fuel pump relay. car turns with starter but cant turn it breaker bar style or by gripping the balancer by hand and turning like ive done times in the past. Anyway theres two plugs left in it i believe the 8th plug and 6th plug. 6th plug is screwed up and looks like im gonna be putting a spark plug thread in the head. anyway just wondering on if anyone has any ideas why i cant turn it.

yes cars in neutral im just trying to spin the crank by hand or with a breaker bar instead of turning it with the starter so i can line up tdc and properly adjust zero lash

If you've still got two plugs in tight, there is a lot of compression to overcome by hand.

It's easier to bump it with the starter.

Re: LT1 Cranks With Starter cant spin by hand

wow okay i got the other two plugs out last one on passenger side was a bitch because of the o2 sensor. turns out i didnt have a stripped spark plug hole my threads on my second plug drivers side where weirdly damage and that caused the wiggle in the plug whole just used another plug and it screws in perfect! Got the motor to turn got my girlfriend to step on the clutch idk why but that helped alot and used a crow bar to slowly spin it around.

Just wondering i got the new wp and opti already on how can i tell if it is at tdc #1 and tdc#6 without removing it or if i have to ill do it. just wondering if there is a easy way to do it!

So excited thought my motor was for sure locked up or something because i could spin it by hand.

You are over-complicating the valve adjustment. Use Shoebox's procedure. The last sentence of the first paragraph tells you all you need to know about finding TDC for each cylinder:
