Lt1 coil
Re: Lt1 coil
Am I the only one confused here..... I can't follow what connector he does have connected to the coil, and where (or if) he found the other connecter connected, if not to the MSD. Did the engine still run after disconnecting the MSD and leaving only one connector on the coil?
You have an MSD, and the MSD is hooked up by connecting one connector to the coil and the other connector to the MSD. So.... your car has been running with only one connector on the coil, because that's how the MSD get wired up. Since the internal wiring of the coils puts the two connectors in parallel, the MSD setup would probably still work if someone had left the wrong connector on the coil and put the wrong connector on the MSD harness.
If you remove the MSD from the circuit completely, your going to be missing the power supply to the ICM.
The wiring diagram shows that the gray connector "B" terminal and the black connector "B" terminals are hooked together inside the coil. Stock, with no MSD box, it appears the ignition module "A" terminal connects to the gray connector "B", and a +12V power supply from fuse #11 connects to the black connector "B" terminal. Black connector "A" and Gray connector "A" are hooked together inside the coil. Nothing connects to black connector "A", ICM terminal "D" connects to gray connector "A".
Not clear how you are getting power to both the coil and the ICM if you are missing one of the two connectors on the coil.

Re: Lt1 coil
Im not really sure either. If u take away all of my MSD box wiring completly and make it simple. I have one wire that goes into the coil from the wiring hanrness. Thats it, i dont have anymore wires from the car harness. I have the greay wire and thats all that has been running my coil. I do notice that there is this small block of wires like 3 wires that are fused together, i am thinking someone modifided my ignition system down there, it has allways worked but its really weird. I was thinking maybe it finally started maulfunctioning maybe or something. Its just odd when everyone else has 2 connectors stock that go into there coil and i only have one lol. This is without the MSD box even there, its weird lol.
Re: Lt1 coil
Lol man i hope not, it was working for a long time, now my car is down and in my garage. I am in the process of ripping everything on the front of the motor off cause i had a REALLY bad miss problem and half the time i couldent even start the car, not sure why or how but its timing somehwhere. Most of my components are old so im replacing em all anyways.
Re: Lt1 coil
I know that when you buy that MSD harness you buy either a dual connector pin or a single connector pin for different years of the car......I think the 94-95 connectors are different than the '93.
could it be, as someone said, that the second connector is simply redundant and not needed?? Every car I have seen with the MSD certainly only has one connector attached....
I want to say that when I took my 95' apart for rebuild a few months ago I only remember one connector coming off of there....I could be wrong though.
I hope you get it worked out.
