There is a composite gear that you can get too. I believe that they are rather pricey though.

 

buddy has been running the comp polymer gear ($110) for about 4 years on his daily driver. The brass left him w/o oil pressure,he shut it right off, disivered the damage and tried the polymer. He had to mahine a small bushing back then but they only showed one size back then. Do a search this has been covered before

 

I've done the search and I've found the crane steel gear meantioned here. But, our shaft uses a particular size, .427 I believe. I'm not seeing the steel gear in that size advertised. Anyone have a part number or did you just have one machined/bushed?

Again the solution is the right gear on the cam, not sure why you got the wrong one.

 

that oil pump is eating it up. and is not needed, costing you probly 10 h.p.

 

I can't tell if you're purposefully being oblique here. If you know what the right gear is, could you state what the right gear vendor/part number would be? As far as the right/wrong gear I have, it's the one the cam designer(Bret Bauer) told me to use.

Update: I've taken out the HV pump, installed a new one comensurate with a stock 96 Z28 engine. Also ordered a composite gear that my machinist will bore/bush to the proper .427 shaft size.
