I have the same one you have, and the pic above is deceiving. The 1LE may be larger, but that's just because it has to fit over the throttle body, but the CRT one fits evenly with it. I don't really see how this is going to affect air flow because you still get your air from the same source before the elbow, regardless of which elbow you have installed. The CRT one is just a lot more durable and isn't going to rip, even if the sleeves on it rip, go to the hardware store and buy some new ones.

There is nothing deceiving about it. The 1le is simply alot larger internally around the bend and at the openings.

That would appear to be a **** poor design. Which brand of elbow is that?

As said before I don't think anything fits or flow better than the 1LE...The metal elbows look nice, but I'll take go over show anyday...I think the one above is a CRT...I had asked about them before because they are relatively cheap, but I stayed with my 1LE for the above reasons...They may fit ok with stock TBs, but not 58mms...

But isn't the engine only going to suck in what it needs anyway? It's not going to suck in more just because the elbow is a hair bigger. So it wouldn't really matter how it fits as it it just a mode to transport the air to the engine. Plus it's not like it is blocking one of the holes or anything.

I came very close to buying a Trickflow, but decided it was too blingy for my tastes. Is that the stock throttle body in that pic?

It's alot more than a "hair" bigger. And I don't know what it flows but I'm not going to put on an elbow that probably flows 25+% less than the stock/1le.

Re: LT1... 1LE or Aluminum intake elbow?

Bringing this one back from the dead... and trying to justify buying an aluminum elbow because apparently the 1LE elbows are unicorns now.

The aluminum elbow outer perimeter of the flow path is clearly smaller, but don't forget that the whole middle of the throttle body is blocked too, while the elbow is wide open.

A dual 58mm TB has a cross sectional flow area of 8.19 sq-in (a little less actually due to the butterflies and shaft).

I just called Trick flow and they said the ID of the round side of the elbow is 3.63" so a flow area of 10.35 sq-in, and that the oval inside measures 4.80" x 2.95" for a flow area of about 11.12 sq-in. I also saw a post response from Trick Flow in 2008 that stated a flow of 8.2 sq-in at the round end and 9 sq-in at the oval end.

In either case, it seems to be that the Trick Flow elbow would not be a restriction on a 58mm TB. If anything you are helping to eliminate the step where the air hits the mouth of the throttle body. It seems to me that it would be totally equal on flow and engine power.

Re: LT1... 1LE or Aluminum intake elbow?

Many moons ago some folks on this board took infrared thermo heat testers (laser kind i think) and found the aluminum elbow was about 15-20 degrees hotter than the rubber elbow.I bought my LE1 from Huffines GM in Texas last June but I have a 1993 with a 48 throttle body.$76.00.Summit has it now for $71.00.(non vented) I think Shoebox may have a way to adapt the vented part.My part # was 25147210.Might check e-bay.Hope this helps.I know the air is rushing through there at about 200 miles per hour, but when I'm idling is when the heat builds up.My02.(I didn't see that you have a 58mm in your sig)I know this fits my 48mm).

Re: LT1... 1LE or Aluminum intake elbow?

I ordered the 1LE elbow earlier this week and it arrived today from ws6 store. I ordered it in the evening and it shipped out the next day so they must have them in stock. Give them a try.

Re: LT1... 1LE or Aluminum intake elbow?

TPIS use to have a flow test on air intakes and showed even moding a stock unit increased air flow and more Hp on dyno. Over the years on my 95 Z the 1Le has made an improvement on air flow and HP.
