Lt1 1996 z28: Egr

Gentlemen: (Especially Shoebox & Injuneer who have helped me before

I am new to my car and admit the car is very techy but I can not FIND MY EGR! Shoebox usually has pics but the ones I found dont tell me where it is. I know it is in back of engine but it seems nothing is accessible back there. So, how to get at it AFTER I find it? Thanks.

What timing. I just relied to OP post on another forum with the same link. Post times probably identical.

I replaced mine on my '96 a couple weeks ago because the one I used for my rebuild was used and turns out didn't close completely. Replacing it wasn't as bad as I expected, as long as you know what you're up against and can work by feel as opposed to sight. It probably only took me 15 minutes to replace.

It's helpful to know there are two studs that hold the EGR valve to the back of the manifold. The nuts appear to be 1/2", but some claim they are metric. The valve may be hard to remove even after the nuts are removed from the studs. There is a metallic gasket that sticks solidly to the manifold and valve, given all the heat that it handles. A pry bar may be required.

The only connection to the EGR valve is the vacuum line, which pulls right off.
