LT 1 Crank question
I have been looking into this now for a little while and I learned this: "the LT1 cranks are balanced internally on the front, EXTERNALLY on the back for use with a flywheel/flexplate that is balanced for the rear. It is possible to use a completely internally balanced crank like on the 1pc seal 350's but you need to either pop the weight off the flywheel/flexplate or rebalance the whole assembly."
Anyway, that's what I learned....
I was asking because i am building a 355 lt1, the whole one peice seal thing is confusing, vortec is one peice but its balanced this way, lt1 is one piece, its balanced differently, yet the cranks are interchangeable. The only thing keeping me from finishing this project is the rotating assembly. I am going to just call Summit in the AM, and see what they have, i would like to use my flywheel, and damper, but if i need to buy new, i will.
