LS3 in a 93Z28

What are the issues putting a LS3 into my 93Z28 M6. Can I use the existing 6 speed? How about motor mounts? Clutch ?

Re: LS3 in a 93Z28

The LT1 and LSx T56’s are different. LSx version has a longer input shaft, different front cover plate, with mount for concentric throwout bearing. You could convert your 93 T56, but then you would end up with a weaker trans compared to the later T56. The 93 version had the lowest torque rating. Best bet is the stronger LSx trans.

That also gets you a setup with a greater selection of “pusher” type clutches, rather than the oddball “pull-back” clutch used with the LT1.

I suspect at a minimum you would need a 98-02 F-Body LS1 K-member. The motor mounts are significantly different. You could probably verify that with member JakeRobb, who is putting an LS3 in his 2002.
