The LT1 and LSx T56’s are different. LSx version has a longer input shaft, different front cover plate, with mount for concentric throwout bearing. You could convert your 93 T56, but then you would end up with a weaker trans compared to the later T56. The 93 version had the lowest torque rating. Best bet is the stronger LSx trans.
That also gets you a setup with a greater selection of “pusher” type clutches, rather than the oddball “pull-back” clutch used with the LT1.
I suspect at a minimum you would need a 98-02 F-Body LS1 K-member. The motor mounts are significantly different. You could probably verify that with member JakeRobb, who is putting an LS3 in his 2002.
