Question clutch connection help

I recently put a 350 and 4 speed into my 82 Z28. I am having trouble getting the Z-bar in over both of the pivots. I tried taking the pivot off the body but I cannot screw the nut on the back of the bolt with the Z-bar on. I am most likely taking the motor back out to replace the motor mounts and I was thinking of trying to slide the Z-bar over the pivot on the body as I put the motor back in. Any ideas or tricks that anyone knows of?

Oh yeah, the car is an original manual transmission car. It originally had a 305 and I'm guessing a 5 speed.

Thanks,
Nate
