Big Rick Intrau, turbo 396 LT1 8.08 on "w" tires, only a tenth slower than the almighty LS1 Blower car that was the first in the 7's, Rick ran the 8.08 only after a month or so with that combination and is now selling it.

Of course I am Biased, I am building a LT1 car.

Re: Ls1 to Lt1 battle

why does this camaro front end ordeal keep coming up seriously? Enjoy your front end all you want, and don't worry about what the front end of the LS1 Z looks like, you wont be seeing it anyway when you leave the stop light.

See the LS1 guys don't have to worry much about what the front end looks like, because the rear is what they'll be showing off, our LT1 camaros though, well there are a few times they'll need a good polishing on that pretty nose so they at least look good when losing

Re: Ls1 to Lt1 battle

I have had my battles with the LS1 guys where I live, but I still walk them from a Dig and then about 130-140mph they start to creep on me. They have good top-end power thats for sure. All the LS1's I have raced to have had full exhausts, lid, and bigger MAF's added. I have raced one LS1 SS Camaro with a 6-speed though that just had a full exhaust and 4:10gears, short throw, MSD Coil Paks, and I only pulled him by half a car the most the 3 times I have raced him. I like the LS1's, but I have to agree that the LT1's look better and can run just as good like mine!

Re: Ls1 to Lt1 battle

well on the matter of looks, that's purely a subjective thing, but to according to the general masses, and people on the street, the LT1 WS6 and Z28 are far prettier and more sculpted than the LS1 versions. i think the LS1 firehawk raptor looks better than the LS1 WS6, but still between my friend and i, he has a LS1 t/a and i have a LT1 t/a, 7 out of 10 say my car is prettier. biggest complaint i hear about his car: "it looks too blunt nosed/sliced off from the side, and too busy/too much going on from the front."

in the end it does not matter what folks think, as long as each loves his car.

Ronnie Duke spent MONTHS trying to get in the sevens, with the (MUUUUCH more powerful) LS1, Intrau ran an 8.08 with 396 inch 23* headed LT1 a month after it was together......I dont see the *COUGH* advantage. Especially since the Ronnie Duke car had a NON STOCK, didnt even come in ANY production car, C5R block, heads and a sheetmetal intake.

Rick Intrau has 23* heads, a cast manifold and a FACTORY LT1 block *COUGH* and the LS1 is ony .1 quicker...damn.

Also, according to GMHTP, "The car wears custom Hardcore Motorsports carbon-fiber panels, including doors, hood and front and rear fascias" (july/aug 05 pg. 83). I don't know about Rick's car (carbon fiber or not) but I am sure all that carbon fiber doesn't hurt Ronnie Duke. That would be awsome if I could get a carbon fiber body, but then again I am sure that it would cost serious $. I guess we all have "wishes". Just a random aside. Take it for what is worth. Oh and looks I think the 3rd gen 91-92 z28/RS with the gfx look the best, but I am biased

And furthermore, Rick Intrau ran that 8.08 in the month of May if I am not mistaken, The Ronnie Duke car ran the 7.90 in January, HUGE difference in the air quality there..put both cars on the same track same day and see what happens to the Carbon fibered, C5R(not really a LS1 in my opinion, never came in a production car) with a sheet metal intake. Intrau's stock block, cast manifold, stock bodied LT1 liable to show some green rear fenders to the black so called LS1.

I believe you can get 7 of 10 people to say the LT1 Z28 looks better then the LS1 Z28. Heck I would vote for the LT1 myself on that one. But there is NO WAY your getting 7 of 10 people to say the LT1 TA/WS6 looks better then the LS1 TA/WS6 unless you were doing the poll in a LT1 forum

I guarantee you the general public will be in favor of the LS1 WS6 in probably the same 7 out of 10 ratio.
