LS1 coil packs on LT1 car

Fred, I'm assuming that this high rpm use was with an LS1 coil pack setup and no coil voltage passing through the Opti (Opti being used for hi-res cam position only)? Was Baxter's setup the same or similar?

Optical section of the Opti feed stock PCM, and MoTeC M48Pro. Stock PCM is happy, so it can operate fuel pump, and knows RPM so it can control idle.
MoTeC converts the Opti pulses to a crank and a cam postion signal. MoTeC can vary igntion timing to each cylinder, and injector timing.
Outboard MoTeC IEX 8-channel ignition driver controls 8 LS1 coils in direct fire.
There is no high voltage function in the Opti.
George's system ran for 4 years with no problem... he made 1,125flywheelHP, and considering that's the net output from a blower motor, they figure it was close to 1,300HP at the crank, allowing for the HP required to drive the blower off the nose of the crank.... not bad for a 4-bolt GM block. My system has run for 3 years with no problems, but I've only got the weenie 800HP nitrous motor. There was no indication of any sort of problems from the Opti operating in the 7,000 - 8,000rpm range. It provided an extremely stable and accurate signal at these RPM's.
We hung the LS1 coils under the bottom radiator support. Works good with my nitrous motor, but its not a good idea when a blower car loses belts.
