yes it will fit all you have to do is get a ls1 k member and it will bolt up you dont have to get the ls1 tubular k and motor mounts should bolt right up

I don't think your understanding what we are saying. This has nothing to do with LS1 vs LT1 debate, this is simple economics. If you don't have either the skills or the time to fix the LT1 you are NOT going to be able to manage an LS1 swap...if your just wanting to get the different motor because you think its going to be faster for your money your going to be disappointed, but good luck either way you go with it.

well if his current engine is no good then that changes things...i havent researched this swap at all but i imagine unless he has an ls1 and harness and all, it would be better to swap in another lt1 to avoid any issues swaping from lt1 to ls1 (again im dont know exactly what those issues would be but it wont be as easy as putting in another lt1)

The LS1 will fit. I've seen some pics of it done, but as the others mentioned, it would be better money wise just to build the LT1. Unless of course you just want something different. Which there is nothing wrong with that.

I'd do it, get a hood to compensate for the room.

The install I saw there was no need for a different hood. The stock 93-97 hood closed just fine.

Yeah but are the mounts in the same spot? What about the tranny? can it be the same? Also clearance in the front or on the fire wall. Is it okay? Sometimes it anoys me on how people say just build your LT1 up because it would just cost to much to put an LS1 in. Yet nobody really says how to do the task it self so we can make out our own minds on this. Not trying to start a fight but two pages of discusion and nobody really answerd the man's question.

likely thats because only a few people have done it, so we don't exactly have a step by step guide handy. There is a reason for this BTW...

I'm pretty sure body wise, except for the front fascia and outer fenders, the whole car is exactly the same for LT's and LS's. I don't think they changed any measurements in the frame nor in the firewall/fenderwells. The only other difference is the motormounts. As far as problems with using an LS, I would believe them to be:

motor mounts
intake situation (convert to new or keep standard lt1 intake)
hood clearance
and wiring harness
