Tach problem after cam install

I put the cc 227/233 cam in my 94z28 and now the tach is acting all wierd. First test drive after the cam install it would go up and stop at like 2000. It eventually would come back down. Now after I just put the slp cai on it wont go down past 1500 unless i bang on the cluster. It won't move when I rev it up either. WEhat do you think happened? We looked at the grouind when it first happened and i looked alright. Just wanted to see your guys' thoughts.
thanks]
Brandon

Your problem sounds more mechanical in nature as in the needle or the mechanism the needle attaches to is sticking. Don't see why that would change. The other thing could be the solid state logic built into the gage. There is no information about that I know of.

Maybe another gage cluster from a JY would be in your future.
